This is such a nice kitchen appliance to have and has so many wonderful features. To start with, I love the matt black smooth finish that contrasts so beautifully with the silver trim. It 'feels' like a good solid expensive kettle. It is a nice weight with and without water. It has dual measurements in either 'cups' on one side and litres on the other meaning that you can boil the right amount of water required therefore not wasting energy and water and this makes it left/right handed friendly. The lid is hinged and initially takes a little tugging to pull up, but I guess this may ease up a little bit with use. Inside it just looks so clean with no visible element to attract hard water limescale. There is a filter, which is removable for cleaning, and the spout is a proper spout enabling precision for pouring. One of its most important features, I find, is that it is BPA free, thereby making it safe to heat water without leaching toxins from the materials. It is indeed a quiet boil. I honestly don't think there is anything about this kettle that I don't like. It costs more than the average kettle, but the brand is well known, trusted and reliable and along with its repairable element, I would envisage this kettle lasting many years. I don't know of another brand that has a repairable element, which means that Dualit are doing their bit towards looking after our earth by not making short life products that will end up in landfill in 2 years.
This kettle comes in retail packaging and inside you’ll find the kettle, kettle base, and an instruction manual.The kettle itself has a good quality feel to it, and it feels like it is built to last. The outside has a matte black finish with chrome detail around the base, spout, lit, and the back of the handle. There are two viewing windows, with one on each side, so is perfect for left and right-handed people. One window has the measurement in cups, and the other has measurements in litres so there is a difference, but at least you can see the water level from both sides. There is a max fill mark too and they are all easy to read. The power button is below the handle and has a nice, soft feeling when you press it down. It is made from plastic though, with a chrome finish, which does look convincing that it is proper chrome. Inside the kettle, it is all stainless steel, and it has a removeable filter and two red markers which are the maximum fill lines so you can tell from the inside when to stop filling with water. The lid is a simple pull up and push down which has a nice soft click into place. There is no button to press, you simply pull it back and it’s on a hinge so doesn’t detach. I do find that if you fill the kettle back up after it’s boiled, the body is still hot, so you have to hold the handle while pulling the lid back which is something to bear in mind.In use, it is reasonably quiet. It’s not really quiet but it does make less noise than any of my older kettles I’ve had so it is definitely quieter than most. There is a red light that illuminates under both viewing windows to visually show that the kettle has been turned on with the button under the handle. With the kettle full to max with water, it too 3 minutes and 15 seconds to fully boil and turn itself off. Pouring it works really well with no spillage or drips. There seems to be two spouts with the main chrome one on the outside and a plastic one on the inside, so the water doesn’t flow from the chrome. It’s a nice pour and you can control it well with no mess or splatters.They do say that the heating element is replaceable, and this is done by removing 8 screws form the bottom to release it, then 4 more screws to release the cage, the heating element slots out ready for the replacement. I couldn’t find the heating element anywhere to buy it so I’m assuming that you have to send it back to Dualit, who will change it for you. If you can find the element yourself then it is easy enough to change yourself.I really like this kettle as it is quick to boil and not as noisy as a normal kettle. The price is high though so you’re paying a premium for the above features. The element is replaceable at home if you can find one to buy and it’s easy to do. Overall, if you don’t mind the price, this is a lovely looking kettle that performs exceptionally well…

This review is for Dualit 72785 Classic 1.7L Kettle - BlackI have never had any products from Dualit, mostly due to the price, so when I got the opporttunity to review this one, I jumped at the chance, I have to say on first look the quality is second to none, it feels really solid without being heavy, the lid opens with a nice clean click and closes exactly the same way, it boils super fast and really quietly, so midnight brews are not an issue any more, it pours with no drips, and is nice and directional, it sits neatly on the base and swivels around, so the kettle can be lifted with either hand, I have to say that this kettle oozes quality and style, yes it is expensive, but in this case, you definitely get what you pay for, I would highly recommend.

4.5 star rating. Not good if you have mobility / hand issues. Quieter…just a smidge.There is no pop-up lid function with this kettle - so if you have hand issues/ mobility issues - this is not the kettle for you. It’s quite firm to remove the lid & it has a loop on the top you need to pull. My arthritis fingered auntie wouldn’t be able to use this for example.But, mobility users covered, it’s a good looking kettle - nice looking black finish - elegant and a bit matte - so not a shiny cheap looking thing.In terms of quiet - it might be the quietest one the brand has produced, but it’s not astonishingly quiet - it still sounds like a kettle boiling away.It is faster than my other kettle - I’d say about 20% faster. If you have less water in it it’s faster for sure, but then you need to refill it more often (which, with the pull lid is a bit annoying), but filled to the top, I’d say about 20% faster.A 4.5 star rating.
Looked at numerous kettles as wanted something stylish and a touch of retro as have an old house. Decided on this and although expensive seems quieter than the kettle I previouslyThis is v neat on the worktop and doesn’t take up too much space as the base is smaller - quite quiet and bit more eco as can boil less water than many ... although as per other reviews it’s hard to tell the volume of water through the window and need to open lid to fill. But v v happy so far a couple of months down the line. Good price too for the all black version as is generally more expensive than the bronze. Would recommend.
