This is a very nice kettle and is brilliant in a number on a number of levels: looks beautiful, it is one liter in size, it is suitable for the left-handed person when you rotate it is identical (water/cup level) on both sizes, Its chrome finish makes it shine and reflect the light. I love looking at it. It is a brilliant 'partner' to my chrome toaster - one happy marriage! Boils fast. I never understood why people go for 1.7 litre kettles because one litre is sufficient for most occasions unless you are throwing one large tea party. Besides, it prevents the user from unnecessarily overfilling it with water hence using too much electric power. A bit noisy but I got used to it.
I'm trying to be more conscientious about how I make my drinks and so have tried to stick to buying only small kettles. This is the best so far. The kettle is well constructed and very positive to use, with a strong handle, clean pouring action and a pull-back-lid that doesn't require me to pump-iron before opening. The height of the kettle means that I don't have to move washing-up out of the way to get it under my mixer tap. It fills easily through the wide spout without water washing over the top and running down the body of the kettle. It has a clear water gauge, as long as it's not in a dark space: I tried it in a darker part of the kitchen and found I had to bob down a little to check the level at this point. This isn't a problem for me, but it might be for others (very minor). The flex is about 75cm (29.5 ins) and easily long enough to stretch around the bread bin- for example. I was also pleased to see that the occasional water splash doesn't end up staining the stainless steel badly, ending up with me trying to polish it off each time I use it; so far, very little water-spotting. All in all, a fab little thing. Well done Dualit!Update June 2023: I've had this little gem for 8 years now (bought one as a gift in 2013 & one for myself in 2015) & it's still pretty much as good as new-see photo. There's a slight crackled appearance (not actually cracked) in the little water window, but other than that, it's perfect. If this ever fails - which isn't looking likely atm- I'll be getting another. Love it!2024 & the kettle is still going strong. However, I was a bit rough with the filter part, so I'm getting another-exactly the same. Note: some reviews comnent in it holding 3 cups....don't get mixed up between cups & mugs. Perfectly sufficient for when we have a couple of guests.
Very quiet
Bought this for an elderly relative for Christmas. Unfortunately , visited today to find she hadn’t been able to use it yet as she didn’t have the strength to open the lid. Neither did I!! Very tight fitting, which I can partly understand from a safety point of view. I sorted the issue in seconds by opening the lid (finally!), using a teaspoon to push in the two wee bits in the outer edge of the lid that stick out to allow it to catch. Lid is still firmly closed but much easier for her to open. Great cuppa when she finally made it!!!
Everything on the kettle feels solid and good quality, the on switch has a satisfying clunk the orange light is bright. The handle seems to be ergonomic and is definitely easy to lift for a 75 year old. The lid opens easily with a knob on top. There has been hardly any limescale issues so far and i live in a high limescale area. The kettle spins freely on it's base and is easy to use for left or right handed people and has a level indicator on both sides. This is a 1 litre or 2 pints, a small kettle but it easily makes 4 mugs of tea or coffee.Even though this is slightly more money than other kettles of this size i would definitely purchase again.
Great kettle & great price
I am very pleased with the Dualit 1 litre kettle. It is a replacement for yet another Russell Hobs which this time both the filter and lid fell apart.Advantages1. It is ideal for:a) Small work surfaces. Its base takes less space than a conventional 1.75lkettleb) Boiling small amounts of water3. The spout is shaped to avoid spluttering and it pours very smoothly4. Reasonably fast boil and not too loudDisadvantages1. Not enough water to fill a hot water bottle or saucepan2. Lid is slightly difficult to get off especially f you have jont problems.A push button lid would have been better.
Saw it, liked it, wanted it, bought and am very happy with it.
I bought this kettle because it was an ideal size for me and it is also only two kilowatts. It still boils really quickly and is easy to clean. I know that it costs quite a lot for a kettle but I feel that it will last a long time and it looks well made. Overall I highly recommend it.
Searchef forever to buy a little kettle. I didn't want a plastic one. This is great. It's much easier to lift for me. I love it. It's quick to boil, lightweight and cute.
Small and light.Pours wellHolds enough for us.Expensive but pleased
My husband finds this kettle too small because he has to fill it up more often. I find this kettle BRILLIANT because I can at last get 4 cups and handle both a reasonable volume and weight EACH TIME, rather than otherwise still have a large, half-filled still heavy kettle. We have compromised: we use the larger kettle for when we have people over and use the EXCELLENT SMALLER DUALIT KETTLE on a daily basis! This smaller kettle is definitely a WINNER for those who have difficulty in handling heavy, larger kettles (perfect for the elderly). The sturdy construction of this Dualit kettle also extends to safer handling areas when the kettle is just boiled. WARMLY RECOMMENDED!
Great little kettle. Perfect for one, no water waste. Quite quiet.
Bought this along with the 2 toaster the kettle feels somewhat higher quality much sturdier. I love this. Looks great, compact only 3 cups but more than adequate for 3 of us and we have a small kitchen so doesn't over power the space like a huge kettle. I had a one cup instant boil kettle before and a pain when cooking and needing a full jug of water so this is enough for that too. Not heavy to hold and pour lovey grip so also also great for elderly I would say if you can't lift a large kettle.- only minus is how long it takes to boil but as I said been used to a very fast boil so may be on bar with standard kettles, plenty of time to tidy up whilst waiting!
I have hand/wrist issues and have struggled with kettles for years (especially being in hard water area where every use requires rinse out and fresh water). Often only making tea for one or two, so had been looking at travel kettles. But they're not great looking... And lo and behold - I would this little beauty. It's pretty much identical to the 'normal' size one I have. So I bought it a few months ago... Well, I absolutely think it is the best thing ever! It's a bit weird to admit, but it has transformed my tea making experience..! I would not hesitate to recommend to someone with hand/wrist problems, and doesn't need to make tea for groups of people. I use a large mug and reckon it'll boil 3-4 mugs. It's so light, looks dead cute and takes up less room on the worktop. Brilliant all round..!
Lightweight and robust build this is a brilliant kettle makes four mugs of tea so capacity is adequate and i like the fast boil and lightweight design you can get condensation on the black base its not the kettle leaking so after boiling i check the base that the kettle sits on before placing kettle back but apart from this the kettle is a brilliant design for ease of use
Have this several months now and love it! Friends have admired and asked where I got it. I like everything about it: easy to handle, easy to clean, still looks brand new, does what I need it to do, can set up the kettle on the base suitable for right or left-handed use. Well made and put together. One thing to note: when opening the lid to refill, you do need to press down on to the spout, as the lid will not open without applying some leverage. I quite like this however, as I like the fact that the lid is secure on it: but do be careful if the kettle is still hot. You cannot open the lid with one hand. Would recommend and would buy again just as it is.
I'm so pleased with this kettle I felt I just had to write a review.I love it when a seemingly mundane product surprises you with its form and function and this kettle shouts quality in every part of it's build and design. The build quality is very good and the materials used feel and look high quality. It is sturdy without being heavy. The 1ltr capacity is perfect for our small family. It will boil about 2.5 mugs or 3 cups worth, plenty for our needs. This limits the wasted energy of a full size kettle and also makes it lighter to lift and pour when full. The other very good feature which I had not anticipated is the design of the handle. It is a large handle offset from the jug further than normal which means you can get a firm balanced grip without fear of burning your knuckles on the bowl. There is no steam escaping on to your hand when you pour just after boiling which is also important.I have only owned it for about a month so its durability is yet to be established but so far so good. I would recommend this kettle without exception.
I've been looking for a smart 1 litre electric kettle (more economical for just the two of us) and came ac oss this one which although a little pricier than many, is super as it looks good and most importasntly it pours perfectly, which is one of things I have found irritating about most other small kettles.
Swiftly delivered from Nisbets, the kettle was to replace same model that had lasted years; it only had to be replaced because someone in the family dislodged on/off switch! Ideal for singleton making 1 or 2 cups of tea or coffee at a time, a person who finds it difficult to lift a larger kettle and it's ideal for a small kitchen. Looks stylish (classic style,) easy to handle and waterlevels very visible.
Lovely wee kettle, silent on/off switch, boils in no time, classy design, I am a single person, I cannot think of anything to improve on the design of this kettle. This is the mini jug kettle version, and cannot praise it enough.
This is actually my second Dualit Lite Kettle – my first one lasted an impressive 7 years with daily use, and I didn’t hesitate to buy it again. It’s sleek, boils fast, and feels solid and well-made. The compact 1L size is perfect for what we need, and it doesn’t take up much space on the counter.I also love the dual water windows – really handy for making just the right amount. It looks smart in the kitchen with its polished finish, and the swivel base makes it super easy to handle. If you're after something stylish, reliable, and built to last – this is it. Here's to another 7 years!
I was initially skeptical that it would be large enough for my needs, but it does take 3 mugs of water for my morning coffee. Also I did a timed experiment against my old kettle which had a higher voltage and this was only 40 seconds longer to the boil. Finally, it occupies much less space on the work - top. So all good - except that a 1 year guarantee is not really good enough at this price point.
Bought this to replace a big kettle. Much more efficient and has definitely cut down the electricity used. Nice neat design from a trusted manufacturer.
I’m in love with this mini . My big Dualit kettle finally gave up the ghost after 30 years . My toaster is still fabulous so I just had to get another kettle. Gone for the mini because it’s just me but this is more than big enough for my green tea obsession
Love it. Bought to replace a Bosch jug kettle that has given up it's lid seal after more than 13 years of faithful service (disappointed with no spares availability for the Bosch but that's another post) The Dualit is the ideal size for our household and limits the younger adults boiling more water than is needed for one cup of tea or coffee. Impressed by the quick boil and it is relatively quiet. A nice looking simple kettle that does the job. Let's see if it lasts a long as the Bosch.
Exactly what I expected of a small stainless steel kettle.
