Attractive and functional. Our old toaster unfortunately gave up on us recently, and after a melting plastic accident with it's cheap successor, we decided to try this one as a replacement. I haven't used a 4-slice toaster before, so this was a new experience - it's handy because sometimes we both want toast at the same time, and we've recently developed a new tradition of my husband cooking poached eggs on toast for us at the weekend. He's delighted to be able to make all 4 slices of toast at the same time! Even better, the controls are set so that each pair of toast slices can be customised to requirements, so if different household members have their own preferences everyone is catered for. This is why the toaster's shiny controls are symmetrical, as it's really 2 toasters in one - I think it makes for a pleasing traditional-looking design which would work well in any kitchen. Some small appliances can really help to 'make' or customise a kitchen, and this toaster certain does; I like that there are both light and dark colour choices.The toaster is very easy to operate, with clear controls. The round dials adjust the toasting time, and very effectively too. My husband enjoys 'only just cooked' toast and was very happy with setting number 2 - this is something which neither of our last 2 toasters have been able to achieve. I prefer a more average no. 3/4 so we haven't tried out the higher settings yet. The 3 light-up buttons on the front enable the user to quickly cancel (lovely to have an easy-to-find, highly visible button for this!), to reheat toast which has cooled (again this works perfectly - my husband was worried that it would further cook his toast - it does not, just delightfully warms it!), and the defrost button which is a great addition for toasting bread from frozen, a useful bonus for those of us who always keep bread in the freezer for this purpose. Only thing I'd be particularly careful to remember to do is to power the toaster for 3 minutes on a high setting to remove the protective layer before use.The toaster is very easy to wipe clean and looks so smart - the chrome parts truly have a mirror finish. Underneath are 2 trays which perfectly catch the crumbs which inevitably scatter downwards and are a doddle to slide out from the back and to wipe clean. The cord can be wound around one half of the base for neat storage/unwound for lengthening. The slots are wide enough to take home-made bread (which I haven't tried yet but am really looking forward to), also crumpets etc. There are non-slip feet on the base so it stays firmly and securely in place - an excellent quality toaster (our best so far!) with a delightful vintage feel.
4 slice toaster that we bought more to match our other items than for specific quality, having said that, it is a good toaster & ideal for our needs.
Beautiful toaster which meets expectations
I paired this Geepas Retrovive toaster with the matching kettle and it has handled family breakfasts reliably. The four extra wide slots take thick sourdough, toasties and bagels without jamming, and the self centring guides keep slices evenly placed. The six browning levels give a good range from lightly warmed to properly crisp; after a couple of tries I found a setting that consistently suits our standard sliced loaf. Defrost and reheat functions are handy for frozen bread or reviving toast without burning it, and the cancel button stops everything quickly if needed. The cool touch exterior and non slip feet feel reassuring in a busy kitchen, especially with kids around. The removable crumb tray slides out easily and makes cleaning straightforward, while the cord storage underneath helps keep the counter tidy. It is not a high end metal toaster, mostly painted steel and plastic, but for everyday use the performance has been perfectly solid and the vintage styling looks good alongside the matching kettle.
