Absolutely love this microwave. It’s a nice size without taking up too much space and it easily fits a normal dinner plate. The black design looks really smart in my kitchen. It has good power and heats things up quickly, and the defrost setting is really useful too. The dial controls much easier to use than digital ones. The interior light is also useful, making it easy to see the food while it’s cooking. The microwave feels solid and well made, and the quality seems good for the price. It makes a bit of noise, but it doesn’t really bother me. I’ve only had it a short while, but it feels like it should hold up well with everyday use.
This is a review of the Russell Hobbs Bronte 20L 800W Manual Microwave in Black with 5 Power Levels, Defrost & Reheat Function, 35 Minute Timer, Dial Controls, 1M Power Cord and Pull Handle Door RHMM833B.This product was priced at £94.00 at the time I wrote and posted this review.I ordered this compact Russell Hobbs microwave oven as my old microwave is no longer reliable and everything takes twice as long to cook as it did when we first bought it.This is a straightforward microwave only without a grill, steamer, or convection oven which is exactly what I wanted: a simple single function microwave without any complications that I’ll never use. It is very stable when placed on my worktop.Using this Russell Hobbs microwave is very easy, put the food on the turntable, select from the 5 power levels on the top dial, and select the time on the lower dial, then shut the door. The timer pauses if the door is opened to stir or rearrange the food during cooking.Most food items I buy list cooking times for a 900W oven and there is a simple calculation of multiplying the cooking time in seconds by 1.125 to convert to 800W oven.The most important thing to consider is how well it cooks food and on that front it is excellent.Overall, this Russell Hobbs Bronte 20L 800W manual microwave is a very stylish looking microwave oven which does just one job and does it very well.
Im really loving the look of this small, compact, 20l 800w microwave, it looks really sleek and stylish. The silver chrome detailed dials and handle, and the super shine mirrored door, look great against the matt black unit.The measurements, both external and internal are correct as shown on the product specification.My large dinner plates are 28 cm in diameter and they fit perfectly, with room to spare!The nice compact size would make this microwave perfect for smaller kitchens, office kitchens, camper vans, caravans etc where space is at a premium.The microwave is nicely built, has a bit of weight to it but not overly heavy and does not slip on my quartz worktop when I pull on the handle to open the door. The handle is solid and strong and a very good size, and I can get a really good grip and pull on it.Operating this microwave is super simple as there are no fancy functions, they're basic yet more than adequate settings.Two dials, one to set the power, high through to low including defrost. All very clearly printed on the dial. The second dial is the timer. Again, very easy to read digits, selecting from 1 to 35 minutes.One simple but loud {PING} rings out to signify cooking time has ended. The dials are easy to turn and very responsive.There is no dedicated stop start button. Cooking starts as soon as you turn the timer dial and stops the second you either open the door or twist the timer dial to 0. Cooking will immediately restart when re-closing the door, providing there is still active time on the timer.The actual performance of the microwave is excellent. It heats up foods and liquids very well, as you would expect from this popular brand name. The 800W is powerful and efficient and heats food evenly. It may take a minute or two longer than some of the more powerful machines, but to be honest, for what most people use microwaves for, there really isn't much difference in cooking times and I find this machine to be more than adequate for my needs.Whilst all microwaves have an element of noise about them, this one is relatively quiet in comparison. I've definitely heard much louder. Im happy with the noise level from this machine. There is no rattling from the turntable whilst being used.The overall appearance of the microwave is trendy and modern. The mirrored door looks great against the black exterior, and is not really prone to fingerprints as you might expect, because you don't need to touch the door at any point, the handle is really good, as I mentioned earlier!Overall, I am very happy with the microwave. It cooks very well which is the main point of a microwave. It looks great, it performs great and whilst some may feel that the current price of £89.99 is a little pricey for such a basic microwave, you get what you pay for and Russell Hobbs consistently deliver good value for money.
We are very happy with this Russell Hobbs Brontë 20 L microwave oven in black and is a really nice item to get and we put it to use straight away. It comes with five power levels and defrost and reheat functions, 35-minute timer, dual controls, and a 1m long power cord. The functionality is very good as mentioned with five power levels going from 100% (Full Power 800w) down to 17%. The Defrost setting is very convenient if you're taking food stuffs straight from the freezer to be defrosted and then cooked as this saves quite a lot of time and works very well we found, standard size plates fit into the microwave perfectly (up to 26.6cm dinner plates) but make sure they are microwave safe before use. Russell Hobbs is a tried and tested brand that has been around for years and we've all probably had some of their equipment in the past and it's always been decent quality. This is the same with this microwave oven it's very good quality and looks really nice indeed, simple full instructions come within the warranty booklet inside the box and it only takes a few minuets to be up and running with this really nice microwave.
This Russel Hobbs microwave at first glance looks reasonably good, it has very basic design and has two rotary knobs for choosing power and time so if it gets dirty, it is a bit more difficult to clean comparing to touch panel for example. It has regular 20 litre capacity inside which is very common these days for small/medium ish microwaves. Body despite basic look, seems quite well built with stainless steel housing. It has interior light as standard. When door opens, microwave stops, typical safety measure.When comes to operating this microwave, it is super simple. Front panel with knobs is clear to read and use, each mode has its own writing on it. You have 5 modes, low, medium low, medium, medium high and high, very self explanatory.Plate from inside is dishwasher safe which is great, easy to keep clean. At price of £94 these days it isn’t too bad for fully functional microwave from reputable brand.

Obviously I want to say all the usual things about this product that make it five stars in my book - sleek design, spacious, easy to keep clean, and so on - but to be honest the main selling point is just how straightforward and 'analogue' it is. For ages I've had a red microwave with what seems like sixteen thousand different settings that I never used, and an endless sequence of beeps letting me know that my food's done. Yes I heard you the first four times! This one on the other hand is so so simple. You just set a power level with the dial, then use the other dial to set a time, and the microwave gets to work right away. When it's done it pings once, that's all. Love it! Also Russell Hobbs is a very reliable brand. Price at time of review was £94. I won't lie I'm glad I didn't have to pay that, but it is worth it if you have cash to burn.
I already own a Russell Hobbs toaster which is the same colour and style so nice to have them matching.The microwave certainly looks stylist with its matte black fluted design and small chrome accents. The pull-handle door operates nicely as do the two knobs. In operation the 800w microwave is relatively quiet and after cooking produces a nice loud single ‘ding’.The two controls are well marked and easy to turn. All in all, very similar to my old microwave. You can set the timer from 0- 35 minutes with 0-10 minutes in increments of 0.5. and thereafter increment by 2.5 minutes. If you want to set the timer to less than 2 minutes then you have to turn knob past 3mins and then back to the time you want. Although it’s not something I’ve encountered before, it doesn’t take long to get into the habit of doing it.The power level knob has five main settings which are High (100%), Medium high (80%), Medium (55%), Medium low/defrost (30%), and Low (17%).The glass turntable is a standard size and moves smoothly during cooking. It’s easy to remove and is dishwasher friendly, which is great for those occasions when something spills over.Was pleased to see this microwave has an internal LED light but a bit disappointed to see it only comes on when the timer is running, not when you open the door to put things in.Overall, I’m happy with this microwave. It looks great, works well, and is easy to operate. There are a few small things I’d change, but it still does exactly what I need.THINGS I WOULD HAVE LIKED DIFFERENT:• Because the knobs stick out quite a bit it would have been nice if the side of the knobs had a line down to the dials. This would have made it so much easier to align the knob to the setting you want.• Having the internal light come on as soon as you open the door would have been better than just when cooking• A slightly longer cable than 1m would have been good.• I’d prefer fewer stickers. The two long ones on the inner door shuts feel unnecessary, since the only info you really need there is the wattage. Everything else is already covered in the documentation.
